FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Insurance Cover Music Therapy Services?
Unfortunately, no. MT is not covered by insurance in the state of Nebraska. However, there are other options available: special needs trusts, Flex Pay and Health Savings Accounts will cover Music Therapy. We are happy to fill out whatever paperwork is required in order to use these accounts. We have also had families apply for grants through private organizations that helped pay for part or all of services.
What does a typical session look like?
This is a hard question to answer because there are so many factors involved. In a group setting, we will use the goals of the group to formulate a session to meet those goals. Typically, we stick with a familiar pattern so that the clients will know what to expect.
In 1:1 therapy, we meet each client where they are on that day and go from there. This is dependent on their goals, preferences, how they are feeling, and what they are drawn to. Each session might include several interventions or one. Each session is taylored to each client and their needs.
My child struggles with aggressive behavior, will you still work with them?
Yes.
How much do services cost?
Please contact Emily (owner) to learn more about services and costs. She will walk you through all the options and help you determine what is most comfortable and effective for you.
We offer many options, including 30, 45, or 60 minute sessions and can have sessions twice a week, once a week, or twice a month, whichever works with your budget.
What populations do you serve?
We try to serve as many populations as possible. Our therapists are trained to work with people of all ages and diagnoses. Please contact us for more details.
How long before I start seeing a change in my loved one?
Each client is different and each situation is different, so there is no specific answer to this. However, we ask that you try MT for a minimum of 4-6 sessions. Typically, it takes this long for the therapist to build rapport with the client and beginning to make strides towards their goals. MT is a therapy (like Speech, OT, PT) and is a process. There might be a huge change right away or it may take several sessions.
We have clients stay in services for years or months. Everyone is different.
Do you evaluate clients for appropriateness of Music Therapy services?
The short answer to this is, yes. Absolutely. We are constantly evaluating whether or not MT services continue to be appropriate for each client. We will communicate with you if we begin to see a reason to discontinue services.
In a school district or hospice setting, there are standards in place that require us to formally assess clients regularly and discontinue services when no longer necessary.
