Policies

Cancellation Policy

Please give us as much notice as possible if you will miss a music therapy session.  If you do not tell the therapist by 9am the day of the session, you will be charged the full fee for the missed session.  No make-ups for a last minute cancellation.

If your therapist need to be gone, she will let you know as far in advance as possible, either by e-mail or telephone.  You will not be charged for this session.  If possible, your therapist will make up the session.

Confidentiality

Music Therapists follow a confidentiality policy similar to other healthcare professionals.  What is said, done, etc. by the client or guardian is held in confidence.  There are a few exceptions to this:

For more information, please visit the AMTA Music Therapists Code of Ethics.

Session Length

The session length will be determined by the client (or the assessment in the case of a school district or company).  Sessions are typically 30, 45, or 60 minutes (depending on budget and attention span of client).  The session will begin and end at the same time each meeting.  It will be very likely that your therapist will have a client immediately following the agreed time so, even if you arrive late, the session will end at the designated time.  Please be on time.

Safety

The safety of every participant in the session is of primary importance, therefore the following policies have been developed to encourage and provide the safest environment possible.

Non-Discrimination

Omaha Music Therapy LLC will not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affiliation or opinions, ability level, nation of origin, age or any other reason.  You can expect to be treated with dignity and respect.  We will be happy to work with any individual who can benefit from music therapy services.  This is not only the policy of OMT but of the American Music Therapy Association, as outlined in the Professional Competencies.

Snow/Inclement Weather

Omaha Music Therapy LLC will close for snow along with Omaha Public Schools.  The only exception is if OPS chooses to close due to cold weather only (when no snow is present), in which case I will leave that up to you to decide if you would like to still have a session.

It will be at the discretion of the therapist and client/caregiver whether services may be provided via zoom or other telehealth platform.

There will be no charge for a session cancelled due to inclement weather.

If you would like to stay in touch with Omaha Music Therapy LLC on social media, please like OMT on Facebook or Instagram.

Please do not send a private friend request.  It is important to maintain this boundary between therapist and client/client family.  A private friend request will not be approved.  Thank you for understanding.

Omaha Music Therapy LLC regularly hosts practicum students and interns. Occasionally, the student will lead part or all of a given session under the supervision of the Board Certified Music Therapist. There are policies and procedures in place for the intern or practicum student including signed confidentiality forms. If you would like more information on interns and practicum students, please let us know. We are happy to provide whatever you need.
